Ingredients 

  • 1/2 cup toor dal
  • 1 small cup coconut 
  • 3-4 green chillies
  • 1/2 cup coriander seeds
  • 1/2 bunch cilantro
  • 3-4 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • Pinch of asafoetida
  • 1 onion
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup toor dal
  • 3-4 tsp tamarind juice
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves
Method 
  • Grind all to paste with water except onion. 
  • Pressure cook toor dal (1/2 cup). 
  • Season  with curry leaves and turmeric, onion and fry till golden brown.
  • Add toor dal and boil for five minutes and add tamarind juice. 
  • Then add the paste and boil well for ten minutes. 
Serve with hot rice and chapati.
