Prawn Pulao 

Ingredients 

  • Prawns - 1 lb
  • Ginger garlic paste - 3tsp
  • Green chillies - 5
  • Jeera powder - 1tsp
  • Onion - 1
  • Tomatoes - 5
  • Grated coconut - half cup
  • Coconut milk - half cup
  • Oil - 1/4 th cup
  • Salt - according to taste.
    For Pulao 
  • Basmati rice - 2 1/2 cups
  • Cloves - 7 or 8
  • Cinnamon powder - 3tsp
  • Cardamom pods - 3
  • Salt
  • Butter - 3 tsp .
Method 
  • Add water and par boil rice. drain and keep aside.
  • Put the pan on fire, add half of the oil. 
  • After three min add thinly sliced onions and then fry until golden brown. 
  • Remove and keep aside. 
  • Now add the ginger garlic paste, green chilli paste and fry until nice aroma comes, then add the cleaned prawns and fry for 3-4 min. 
  • Then add the jeera powder, cut tomatoes and mix well. Cook on medium heat until they soften. 
  • Now put in grated coconut, coconut milk, salt, garam masala powder. 
  • Remove after 5 min. Empty the gravy into a casserole and top it with parboiled rice. 
  • Garnish it with fried onions, finely cut cilantro/coriander, a few mint leaves. 
  • Cover with a lid, seal the sides with atta dough and cook on slow heat till rice is done. 
Serve hot with raita.
